    The objective of this content only course is to introduce the medical assistant student to the study of medications, their uses, drug actions, and administration safety in the health care setting. Mathematical skills in relation to calculations of medication dosages will be taught. Medication administration techniques will be explained with demonstration of techniques in MDAS 1232 Clinical Procedures II.

    1. ?Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic processes
    2. Classifications of medications.
    3. Medication dosage calculations
    4. Routes of medication administration.
  4. Learning Outcomes
    1. Apply general concepts of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic process and their application in drug therapy
    2. Explain the 7 rights of medication administration.
    3. Calculate correct medication dosages.
    4. Select proper routes and sites for medication administration.
    5. Identify classifications of medications including indications for use, desired effects, side effects and adverse reactions.
    6. Pronounce medications.
