    This course expands on the skills learned in MDAS 1125 Laboratory Skills I. The student will participate in waived and moderately complex laboratory collection and testing in the areas of chemistry, immunology, microbiology, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. Students will also learn how to apply a Holter Monitor and perform electrocardiography.

  3. Outline of Major Content Areas
    1. CLIA-waived and moderately complex laboratory testing
    2. Electrocardiography
    3. Hematology, immunology, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, and coagulation areas of the laboratory and the testing in these areas
    4. Holter monitor
    5. Proper laboratory testing
    6. Proper specimen collection
    7. Quality control

    1. Perform quality control
    2. Relate common laboratory tests to disease processes.
    3. Perform CLIA-waived chemistry, hematology, immunology, coagulation, microbiology, and urinalysis testing.
    4. Complete laboratory documentation.
