   This 3 credit history course explores the history of Minnesota from the ice age and early Native Americans to the events of today. Through a combination of textbooks, internet sites primary sources and an optional field trip students gain an appreciation of the contributions made by those who came before us in the state we now call Minnesota. Prerequisties: None. Meets MnTC Goal 5

   1. Survey knowledge of major political, social and economic events in the history of Minnesota.
   2. Display knowledge of the experiences of indigenous people who lived in Minnesota before and after European contact.
   3. Trace the path Minnesotans traveled from first white settlements to statehood.
   4. Explain Minnesota's "three frontiers" (farming, logging and iron mining) and their role in the state's history.
   5. Describe the liberal traditions in Minnesota and how it continues to shape mainstream politics.
   6. Explain how Minnesota continues to play a significant role in America to the present day.
