    This course introduces students to the mathematical concepts and applications necessary for successful accounting careers. The focus is on business and financial operations with a strong emphasis on problem solving. Topics will include basic algebra, cash and trade discounts, markups and markdowns, simple and compound interest, present values and future values of annuities.

    1. Solve basic math problems using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, and equations.
    2. Demonstrate knowledge of business mathematics concepts and terminology.
    3. Analyze problems in business and accounting to determine appropriate methods for solving.
    4. Calculate cash and trade discounts along with markups and markdowns.
    5. Knowledge of simple interest and compound interest calculations and formulas.
    6. Ability to calculate both present and future values using tables, formulas, and/or functions.
